WHY WE CHOSE SALEM NURSE
MIDWIVES
When Chad and I found out that we were pregnant we wanted what all
parents want, a healthy baby, but I wanted more out of my birth
experience. I wanted to know the provider that would be
delivering our baby, I wanted to avoid unnecessary interventions such
as an episiotomy and cesarean section, and I wanted a provider who was
not just going to be there for the final pushes but one who would be a
buffer between me and the health care system and environment.
Research showed that midwives have lower c-section rates, lower
episiotomy rates and higher patient satisfaction with care.
After
meeting the Salem Nurse Midwives I felt that we had a provider who
would support my goals while monitoring our pregnancy and labor so that
we would have a good experience and a great outcome. We knew
who
would be delivering our baby because Salem Nurse Midwives makes sure
that you meet and get to know each of their midwives. They even took
time to meet and get to know my husband who after nine months of
excellent care wasn’t even a bit nervous about the labor and
new
baby coming. There continuous patient education, confidence,
and
encouragement let me know that I could happen to labor instead of it
happening to me.
We delivered a healthy baby boy with the help of Louanne Watson CNM, a
great nurse, and a team of support people. Salem Nurse

surpassed my expectations in the delivery room being there for the
majority of my labor suggesting but not pushing different labor
positions and pain relief options, letting me listen to my body, and
creating an environment where I felt safe and comfortable so I could
focus on the task at hand.

care and love during the entire pregnancy and labor/delivery process.
Both our son and daughter were delivered by the Salem
Midwives,
and my husband and I feel they are the best
choice for the delivery of a baby. The modern medical
equipment
in the hospital put our minds at ease for possible complications, and
the reassuring, emotionally connected, and professionally superior care
of the midwives made the deliveries full of joy and wonder (at God's
creation!) Also, the midwives are sensitive to each
individual's
wishes to proceed through the labor as each lady chooses, with as
little medical intervention ("natural") or as much medical intervention
(epidural) as the mom-to-be wishes.
Really, the "midwives" are the best of both worlds and the way to go!!
